In my body of work I am exploring the technique of rotoscoping, by using the technique only on still images to study the forms of the figures. Rotoscoping is an animation technique that animators use to trace over motion picture footage frame by frame to produce realistic action. The reasoning for only scoping the figures in the images and not the whole image but instead blurring the background is because I feel like blurring the background helps push the figures forward while not completely taking away from their surroundings. These images are capturing moments as they were happening with people I am familiar with or know such as family and friends, to which I decided to use instead of strangers simply because working with people I am familiar with helps make the photo shoots less awkward, staged and stiff in the final pieces of the images when I work on them.
