Samantha Honaker’s work focuses on the sexual objectification of women and the contribution it makes to gender-based violence. Exaggerated proportions and a limited color palette, poses, and the digital aspect of her illustrations address the idea of women as commodities. Dolls introduce a perverse form of play for the viewer to participate in as it relates to societal responses to women’s bodies. The imagery of the claw machine describes the increasingly common view of women as sexual objects to be played with for only a few moments before being cast aside.
